Discover how simple it is to build and format your own website or blog from scratch with WordPress. During this one-day course you will gain a working knowledge of how to use WordPress effectively, with the help of eBusiness Club practitioners, as well as how to publish content and manage your website for the long-term.

Successfully design, build and manage your own website or blog for business using WordPress

If the thought of building and setting up your own website or blog fills you with dread, then don’t panic. WordPress utilises a very user-friendly CMS (Content Management System) and during this one-day course our eBusiness Club web experts will help you to not only build your own website from scratch, they’ll also show you how to manage it for the long-term too. You’ll even have the knowledge to make the jump to WordPress.org should you need to.

The course will cover:

  • Choosing the right Top Level Domain – Understand what the differences are between WordPress.com and WordPress.org, and when that matters most.
  • Using Content Management Systems – Learn about the business benefits of working with CMS and database-driven websites.
  • Adding a blog to your website – Find out why you should start a blog in addition to your website.
  • Making your site accessible to visitors – Explore the need for good accessibility on your site and make sure you source, manage and optimise your content and images ready for your visitors.
  • WordPress installation and set-up – Gain a practical knowledge of how to set-up your WordPress.com installation.
  • Widgets and themes – Look at how you can customise and improve your site with the use of widgets and themes.
  • Pages and posts – Examine the similarities and differences between pages and posts on WordPress.
  • Managing content – Learn how to add and format content before publishing it on your site and sharing with the world.
  • Make the most of media – Successfully manage, embed and exploit the possibilities offered by photos and videos on your site.

Course outcome:

Delegates will leave the course with a fully-working WordPress.com website along with all the knowledge necessary to ensure that they can maintain and develop it further in the future. They’ll have a strong understanding of how to optimise the site and make the most of the complimentary resources available to improve the performance of it.

Agenda:

This training course is delivered as a full-day session beginning with coffee, registration and device set up at 9am. The presentation starts at 9:30am prompt and closes at 4:30pm. Please note that lunch is provided on all full day training courses.

Equipment required:

Please note, this course is ‘hands-on’ and therefore delegates are required to bring their own wireless-enabled laptop (tablet devices have proven to be problematic on past courses)
