Google Analytics - Action Planning Workshop

Activity type: Workshop

Thursday 25 March 2010
Google Analytics is a far more powerful tool than many businesses realise – the ability to understand your website visitors’ activity, segment them into specific groups and calculate the value of every source of traffic is essential to the effective management of an online marketing campaign.

Once understood, Analytics can provide a variety of actions to take, many of which centre on your website’s ability to retain and convert visitors into customers. This workshop provides an in-depth guide to setting up and using Google Analytics, how to get the best from its reports and what to do with the data.
The workshop explains how Analytics works, how to manipulate data within Analytics, the extra settings you can make to get much richer information and additional features that can be implemented on your site to track things like downloads, traffic from email marketing campaigns and much more. Most importantly, it helps you understand how to make use of the information to take action to improve your website.

The information that can be gathered through analytic applications includes:

  • How visitors arrived at your site

  • How many pages were viewed, at what time and the length of time spent viewing each page
  • The date and time that each visitor accessed your site

This one day workshop includes these topics:
  • Setting up Google Analytics: page tagging, goals, e-commerce tracking, site search and event tracking
  • The statistics that really matter
  • The value of custom segments and how to create them
  • How to create your own custom reports and why you should
  • How to identify traffic from specific online marketing campaigns, such as emails or paid adverts
  • How to manipulate data and views to gain real insight into your visitors’ behaviour

This workshop is aimed at business owners and webmasters who already have a website and want to improve its performance and/or who are responsible for reporting on their site’s performance.
