What is Objective 2?

Objective 2 is one of the three priority objectives of the European Structural Funds.

Objective 2 aims to support the economic and social conversion of industrial, rural, urban and fisheries areas facing structural difficulties.

Ways in which it does this are:

  • Creating a more dynamic economic environment by encouraging business creation and survival
  • Improving the competitiveness of existing businesses
  • Reducing levels of deprivation in the region’s most disadvantaged communities
  • Increasing business investment and economic growth

How does it help?

Objective 2 support is available for small to medium sized companies in certain locations around the East Midlands. Check if you qualify for Objective 2 support.

Objective 2 support is distributed through projects and initiatves such as the First Steps workshops, Connected Nottingham and eBusiness Club.

Funding for these Objective 2 projects come from a variety of sources, including European funds (which are distributed and managed by EMDA ) and local business support and funding bodies.
