Free Digital Support Programme for Nottinghamshire Businesses

Businesses across Nottinghamshire can access free ICT, social media and digital marketing support from some of the region’s industry leaders thanks to a new partnership between Nottinghamshire County Council and East Midlands Chamber*

Throughout February and March, the Chamber’s eBusiness Club will be delivering a series of free seminars and workshops aimed at boosting businesses’ digital awareness to help drive their online engagement and increase revenue.

They also aim to improve businesses’ knowledge and awareness about the benefits of high speed broadband and associated technologies and the role they play in achieving economic and business growth, and to support businesses to implement, adopt and exploit digital technologies.

A wide range of subjects are covered by the seminar programme, including social media, Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), location marketing, cyber security and digital apps which can boost productivity.

One-day and two-day action planning workshop subjects will include email marketing, Twitter for business, Google Analytics, SEO, getting started on social media, planning the perfect website and creating video content for the web.

The events are free to access for businesses based in the local authority district areas of Ashfield, Bassetlaw, Broxtowe, Gedling, Mansfield, Newark and Sherwood, and Rushcliffe.

In addition, eligible businesses looking to invest in digital technology can also access free specialist one-to-one support from eBusiness Club advisers, who can help identify suitable solutions and formulate grant funding applications for submission to the new D2N2 Digital Business Growth Programme. This European Regional Development Funded project will managed by Nottinghamshire County Council and grant applications are expected to open in April.

The support is aimed at helping local firms to take full advantage of the benefits afforded by Next Generation Access (NGA) broadband, which is currently being rolled out across Nottinghamshire via the council’s flagship multi-million pound Better Broadband for Nottinghamshire programme and by commercial telecoms providers.

As a result of these interventions, 98% of Nottinghamshire’s premises are expected to be able to access a fibre network, capable of delivering superfast broadband speeds (24Mbps or more), by December 2018.

The eBusiness Club was founded in 2001. With a membership of more than 9,000 SMEs from across the East Midlands and its neighbouring counties, it is the premier source of independent and impartial advice and support in online marketing and digital technologies.

Diane Simpson, the Chamber’s Deputy Chief Executive, said: “The eBusiness Club has a strong track record of working in partnership with Nottinghamshire County Council to boost the digital skills and capabilities of local businesses and we are delighted to be able to offer this programme of free events and digital support across the county.

“In recent years, we have seen rapid developments in online and digital technology and social media and they are evolving over time as a means of doing business, so it is absolutely crucial that firms of all sizes are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to tap into its potential. “NGA broadband will open up a new world of opportunity for business and it’s crucial that local firms have the capabilities to take full advantage. This programme is all about ensuring they do.”

Jon Egley the Chamber's eBusiness Club manager added "this programme represents a fantastic opportunity for Nottinghamshire based businesses to receive world class digital marketing training and in addition benifit from free specialist one to one digital support".
