Conference & Expo to take journey into the future

Renowned public speaker Dean Johnson is set to be a keynote speaker at the eagerly-anticipated and fully-funded D2N2 Digital Conference & Expo 19. Taking place on 16 May from 8.30am to 3.45pm at The Nottingham Belfry (for businesses based in Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire), places are free to attend (subject to eligibility) but are limited.

As an accomplished design leader, writer, presenter, BBC tech pundit and Head of Innovation at Brandwidth, Dean is shaping the connected future for film, TV, automotive, publishing, music, education and leisure sectors with the emphasis on user experience and engagement. Dean is a Fellow and former VP of the Chartered Society of Designers and a mentor for the British Fashion Council.

In 2016, he spent 24 hours in VR. Continuing to push boundaries in design and technology, this April Dean will be alongside Sarah Jones of Coventry University for 48 hours in virtual reality. Dean is a top VR, IoT, CES, Industry 4.0 and Automotive Design Influencer and writes for numerous publications, his own blog and is the author of international #1 interactive iBook Digital Publishing: The Next Steps.

Diane Beresford, the Chamber’s Deputy Chief Executive, said: “It is fantastic news that Dean will be at the D2N2 Digital Conference and Expo 19. To have someone of his experience, knowledge and calibre will undoubtedly add real value to the conference, and compliment the great speakers and practioners already signed up to attend.”

The conference will showcase the very latest developments in the world of digital marketing – helping SMEs to stay at the cutting edge of new technology, tools and techniques. The full-day sessions will build on the success of the programme’s conferences last year, which saw 98% of the 600 delegates saying they would like the opportunity to attend another.

Diane continued: “The conferences were a resounding success and there’s been a lot of demand for us to stage more in 2019. The quality and depth of knowledge and expertise on the project is brilliant and this is never clearer than when we bring all of this together for these full-day events, so we’re really excited that planning is underway and the bookings are already coming in.”

The days will feature some of the programme’s most popular topics – including a look at the latest developments in social media (including the use of Facebook groups as a way of engaging with customers), what’s new in online search, and how SMEs can make their budgets go further by using paid-for social advertising.

“We’re working with hundreds of companies across Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire, and I’m pleased to say that we have a lot of very satisfied businesses” Diane added. “It’s really rewarding to see the positive impact that we’re having on the region’s SMEs, and how this ultimately translates into a boost for the local economy. We’d love to see as many companies as possible get the most out of the Digital Growth Programme.”
