First Class Tailored Solutions is an alternative education provision provider which aims to ensure that young people across Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire are not left without an education. It is a specialist provider of short-term, individually-tailored educational programmes for the large number of young people who, for whatever reason, are unable to attend mainstream schooling. Its dedicated support team ensures that teaching and mentoring staff can focus on learners to help them reach their full potential.

The Challenge
The business has undergone rapid growth since it was started in 2012, and has quickly outgrown the systems, processes and technology that were put in place when it was established. This has led to a massive increase in the administrative burden placed on support staff, with the business reliant on the manual input of data into Excel spreadsheets, for its records and reporting.

Digital Growth Programme Solution
We provided £8,000 of funding towards the development and implementation of a bespoke data management system, similar to ‘SIMS’ software used by more than 70,000 schools across the UK, to manage its day-to-day operations and drive improvements. The new system, which can be accessed by all staff via an online portal, enables users to record and access key information such as learning programmes, attendance and learners’ personal data, in real-time.

The Impact
The new system will make the organisation far more efficient and help it to increase its capacity, recruit and grow. As a result of the investment in the software, it has created seven new jobs as well as increasing two part-time jobs to full-time.

Client Testimonial
Beverley Kirk, Director said: “We’ve grown massively as a business since launch and although our existing system has just about coped, it has reached the edge of its limit in terms of what we need it to do.

“Our new system is Cloud-based and will really simplify a lot of processes across the organisation, help us to improve and unlock our capacity for future growth.”
